1 Year of Stitches 2018 no longer a UFO

Had to work on the UFO's and complete them. 1 Year of Stitches started in 2018 would be the simplest to get done so I set to work in October, adding a line every other day and I'm happy it's done.

I wanted to explore the creation of circular motifs using a single embroidery stitch or multiple stitches.

It's a sampler of sorts.

A Second Panel for #25millionstitches

Here's the second panel I've completed for the #25 million stitches public engagement art installation.

Unlike the first panel I just began stitching. There was no concept. It just evolved one line of embroidery after another. 

Safari, the cat at my mum's place was witness to the creation of this panel, so it seemed only right to have him in most of the photographs.

I find the back pretty interesting.

June CQJP

Got the CQJP journal pages done for June. Yipee!

The Crazy Quilt page. The Transit of Venus was big but it was a cloudy morning in Bangalore and I didn't see it. :( 

The journal page for June combined with explorations of stitches from TAST (Take a Stitch Tuesday). In June there was buttonhole wheel, cable chain stitch and palestrina stitch.

Some catching up to do for the CQJP. Have the CQ block done for July, now I have to embellish the seams while recording the happenings in July in embroidery on the journal page.

A Textile Letter

Karina invited me to exchange a textile letter with her and I created an embroidered one for her. That's the whole long letter, sorry for the hazy picture but its a cloudy day and I didn't want to use the flash.    

Here are closeups of sections of the letter.  

A tear in the fabric becomes a part of the letter.

Bits of silk appliqued to the letter with running stitch, button hole wheels, feather stitch and cable chain stitch are part of my letter writing vocabulary. 

I've appliqued a list of traditional Indian snacks which were listed on a snack packet. Click on the picture to get an enlarged view.

Embroidered interpretation of The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency

The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency interpreted as an embroidered piece for the Covered in Stitches contest    

I've used French Knots for the  crocodile, Stem stitch, Open chain, Chain stitch, Herringbone and Buttonhole wheel to name a few. Some applique. All images will enlarge if clicked on. 

A detail. Other than framing this embroidered interpretation I wonder what I can do with it. Any ideas?
