A Second Panel for #25millionstitches

Here's the second panel I've completed for the #25 million stitches public engagement art installation.

Unlike the first panel I just began stitching. There was no concept. It just evolved one line of embroidery after another. 

Safari, the cat at my mum's place was witness to the creation of this panel, so it seemed only right to have him in most of the photographs.

I find the back pretty interesting.

TAST 2015 - Fly Stitch

Fly stitch creates a mandala around a moth which I found on our verandah. The mandala and moth are on a page of my brown paper bag journal. 

After the rains many moths big and small can be seen on the verandah and the french doors.

Completed CQJP & Journal page - January

Here's my first CQ block completed for the CQJP challenge, just in time as January draws to a close.Embellished with stitches from TAST. I'm still working on the journal part of the page.

I decided to update this post with pictures of the journal page for January which I completed this morning.

This is how the two pages look side by side. 

This then is the journal part.I was looking for a cross stitch pattern of a Dragon for Chinese New Year and when I came across this free pattern here  I simply had to make it a part of the page although it extends a little beyond the page and I had to do away with the pattern at the top.

Its a busy weekend. I have to start on the CQJP and journal page for February and there's a certain scarf that I'm making very slow progress on - I need a longer day if that's possible to do all that needs doing.    . 

Tideline

The last day of the year. Its been quite a year. A bit like the lines I've embroidered on the scarf Tideline - a mixed bag of highs and lows.
At the beginning of the year I joined a fabric book page swap - The Story of the Traveling Pages and created ten pages on ten different themes, three more are in the works. I have received eight pages and at the end of February 2011 I should have a unique fabric book based on the theme -Leaves with each page interpreted and created by a different person.

Happy to report I'm more 'green' now. Our apartment block has got into composting all kitchen waste and I've joined the programme.

Never before have I travelled to one place so often. Kerala - I made at least six trips for ten to fifteen days each time. My Malayalam has improved. I cut a jackfruit for the first time and I've added to my collection of traditional cookware and now cook fish curry in an earthenware vessel meant for just that.
In August I began selling my scarves and stoles under the MAYA label at Plantation House and the response has been fantastic. Motivation enough to keep going and push the boundaries. I'm excited to work with pashmina in the new year, rust dyeing has been explored just a teeny bit and I see myself doing more of it in the coming year.

I was thrilled to be the winner of a giveaway on Bird Nest on the Ground - my first ever and I was pleasantly surprised to see in my mail this morning that I was the winner of another - a fantastic way to end the year wouldn't you say.

My blog archive tells me I've been blogging for three years now!!! Its a wonderful experience which I continue to enjoy and I watch with amazement how the followers of this blog has grown to the present 176. Thank you for your support and the comments. I hope there will be more reasons to connect with more of you personally in the new year.

TAST - Fly Stitch

I have been working on Jungle and planning work on an ATC and a postcard which I need to send out soon, so TAST - Fly Stitch this week got delayed.
No progress on the August TIF and I'm seriously considering participating in the Bead Journal Project (BJP) 2008.
I'm hoping involvement in all these various projects ( and I haven't listed everything, not even half) will make me more efficient,better at managing my time and somewhere along the way I'll learn to be able to say "No" to some things however exciting and fantastic they may be, but then again you don't always get a second chance so I think I'll have to improve my instincts to recognise a once in a life time opportunity and go ahead and take the plunge and simply follow my bliss.
