A giveaway to start 2013.

I hope 2013 is treating you well.
I have quite a bit on my plate, I'm teaching two courses in Surface Design at NIFT this semester. The Fiber Book group on Stitchin Fingers has a fabric book page swap which I'm excited to be participating in.
My Crazy Quilt Journal 2012 is a work in progress which I hope to complete and show you by the end of this month.
I intend to practise and hone my baking skills, try my hand at yarn bombing and I want to embroider atleast 12 cross stitched Santa ornaments by the end of the year.
I think having a giveaway on my first post in 2013 would be the perfect start to another wonderful year of interactions and collaborations which have enriched my life thanks to the awesomeness of this world of blogs.
There are two macrame necklaces with oxidised silver charms to be won.
There's one with little silver fish and and the other with elephants.
So here's what I'd like you to do
Leave a comment on this post letting me know
1. which necklace you would like the fish or the elephants and
2. recomend a simple recipe which involves baking and produces fantastic mouth watering results OR point me to a cross stitch pattern for a santa ornament which will transform my x'mas tree .
Please see that there is an email id which will allow me to contact you should you win.
And finally could you visit the Million Little Stitches pages on Facebook and like it, I'd really appreciate the gesture.
On 26th January, the day we in India celebrate as Republic Day I'll pick the two winners.
The giveaway is open to all worldwide.

Here's to a wonderful week of learning and discovery.

Button Holing

Buttonhole stitch is going to be the star of my next stole- Land of Lakes. This little damaged fabric which is part of another little project inspired Land of Lakes.
Land of Lakes is the third in the collection based on the theme of Maps and Travel. The collection will have 7 - 10 scarves and stoles and I'm finding there are enough hours in a day! Help.
I have yet to show you Urban Sprawl which I finished last week.

Caterina is hosting a rose giveaway on her blog La DolceVita. You have until July19th to put your name in the hat for the lucky draw.

Here's something I find absolutely delightful.

Winners of One Heart One World

It's the evening of the 17th here in India and sitting in a little internet cafe at the tip of southern India I have drawn with the aid of random.org the winner of the crocheted doily and the little screwpine heart which were the door prizes on my blog for the One Heart One World event.

Here goes - No 9 wins! and that happens to be Kim . Congratulations Kim.

I was delighted with the response my participation in One Hear One World got - The OHOW post has garnered me the most comments ever and the band of followers have swelled to a healthy190 and besides I've had a great time doing the rounds of so many fantastic blogs which I would have never chanced upon otherwise.

So with all that said I decided to pick another person to win and random .org gave me No. 84 which happens to be Elizabeth. Congratulations Elizabeth I hope this is a pleasant surprise, you win a crocheted doily and screwpine heart just like Kim.

I wish there were little hearts to mail out to all those who came to visit and left a comment but there will be more opportunities to do so. So do drop in and say hello.

Kim and Elizabeth I have mailed you both and asked for your postal addresses so I can mail the little packages out to both of you when I get home from Kanyakumari.

One Heart One World

The One World One Heart event is back.

Logo2011small

Lisa Swifka is the brain behind this blog open house which has grown to 1000 participants in 4 years and this year is the fifth and final year.
So I just made it as a participant, last year I had a great time travelling the world and discovering a plethora of creative people via their blogs.
I'm a Textile Designer living in Bangalore, India. Embroidery is my passion. I embroider scarves and stoles and I'm deeply involved with design and development of textile based handicrafts in India.

As part of the One World One Heart event I'm giving away a crocheted doily and a little heart made of screwpine fibre. Both are made by groups of craftswomen who I've worked with.

If you'd like to be included in the draw for this giveaway you need to be a blogger, yes this is an event for active bloggers. Please leave a comment on this post only and I'll draw a lucky winner on 17th February. Please make sure you leave your email id so I can contact you. :) Like this maya(dot) matthew(at) gmail (dot) com so bots or trolls or whatever else don't get hold of it.
I hope you enjoy taking a look around my blog.
Thanks for visiting and to see the list of participants in this year's One World One Heart event click here. Bon Voyage!

I won!!!

Pat had a giveaway on her blog for Mother's Day about two weeks back and I won.The first ever giveaway I've won.I was ecstatic to get up one morning and read Pat's e-mail. Today I had the pleasure of opening a box packed with goodies.Wrapped with care in pretty pink and rose patterned tissue paper I unwrapped something to delight every sense.
A little note pad, a little book - For Mother O'Mine by Mary Engelbreit, a little zine Pat has created on How to write on Fabric which has her beautiful handwriting, a little box of chocolates! Its the little yellow box of Whitman's Sampler and a charming little porcelain plate with roses on it and three exquisite vintage mother of pearl buttons.
Aren't these vintage handkerchiefs beautiful. They are in pristine condition. They inspire me to start a handkerchief collection.
Just look at all that. Three little charms from Blue Moon, a set of vintage crystal buttons made in Germany, skeins of silk thread,a vial of glass beads, a length of lace and a beautiful crazy quilted needle case made by Pat's friend Brenda to which Pat added the bead edging. Looks like I can't put off exploring crazy quilting much longer, I have everything to get me started.
Pat you've taught me a thing or two about giveaways and you certainly do things with style. Can't tell you how thrilled I was to unwrap each little treasure. Thank you.
Chocolate doesn't last long in this household, I'll be sharing that with my husband this weekend as we watch T20 cricket on television.
For the years of embroidery I've done I haven't made or got myself a needle case so looks like I was meant to have one and its going to be pressed into service right away. I'm going to put a picture of this beautiful needle case here.
Have a wonderful weekend.
