1. What was I doing ten years ago?

That would make it 1998. I was visiting faculty teaching textile and design courses at NIFT, started embroidering one of a kind scarves and stoles without a clue of how to sell them. It was also the beginning of sorts of my association with the development and NGO sector - I did two projects that year one a design intervention project in Kasuti embroidery for the economic empowerment of women in Karnataka and the second was an enterprise resource development project creating products out of Sisal fibre also for women in rural Karnataka.

Hi Million Stitches,
Thank you very much. I just got turned down for a job, so I was feeling very blahhh about myself. Your sparkly nomination brought me back to life. You should have nominated yourself! I just love visiting your red and pink site.

Hello, I see you are part of TIF and Stitchin fingers.

Will you be part of Robin Atkin's 2008 Bead Journal Project too ? I'd love to see your beadwork !

Maya Sara Matthew said...

Hi Helene, No I'm not a part of Robin Atkin's 2008 Bead Journal project, not that I didn't want to participate but I discovered the project long after it had started and there was too much of catching up to do.I'm keeping an eye on Robin's blog to see when she announces the next project, i haven't really done too much beadwork of any sort but i'd like to try after seeing all that people are doing.

Thanks for the link and for letting me know that the 2008 bead Journal Project is yet to start Helene. I had it all mixed up, I was still in 2007.Yes I think I should join, its going to be a decade of fiber journals.

I hope you do join us !

You know I had virtually no experience in beading when I joined in may 2007. This year has proved fantastic for me in terms of art, friendship, and life experience !

I love this idea of people committing to stitch love throughout the world for a year, exploring their own pains and joys; this is true magic ! :o)
